THE SENSING CHALLENGE
01

Why Conventional Presence Detection Is Not Enough?

Traditional infrared sensing can be influenced by surface properties, environmental conditions and surrounding movement.
Modern sanitary applications demand more consistent detection and greater flexibility in sensing behavior.

Conventional Sensing

  • Detection based on reflected signal or simplethresholds.
  • Detection may vary with surface properties andenvironment.
  • Limited adjustment possibilities.
  • Basic presence detection.

adaptiveSense® Approach

  • Distance-based measurements with intelligent processing.
  • Detection logic can use measured distance and temporal behavior.
  • Configurable sensing parameters.
  • Multi-zone and behavior-aware detection logic.
MORE THAN A TOF SENSOR

How adaptiveSense® Works?

From distance measurement to intelligent processing and product control, adaptiveSense® integrates ToF sensing,
embedded software and application-specific functions into a coordinated system.
  • ToF Sensor Layer
Commercial ToF sensors deliver precise distance measurements via I²C, optimized for range, accuracy, and power consumption.
  • Microcontroller & Software Layer
adaptiveSense® firmware processes distance data using intelligent algorithms, filtering and temporal analysis to identify user presence and movement.
  • Product Function Layer
Detection events trigger product-specific actions, including flushing control, LED indicators, and other automated functions.
  • Configuration Interface
Enables users to adjust detection range, sensitivity, and timing parameters after installation without disassembling the product.
